About the time he had founded the 95%-truther John Birch Society in 1958, the brilliant Robert Welch penned an exceedingly simple economic parable / allegory which, had it been taught in our nation's schools, would have prevented so much of the economic damage that has since accumulated over the decades that followed.
From "The Blue Book" of the John Birch Society:
"A government trying to step in and improve the workings of a free market is exactly like a man who takes a lighted lantern outdoors on a bright June day to show you the sun. But a government's answer to any criticism as to the inadequacy of the lantern is always to bring more lanterns and then more lanterns -- until eventually the smoke and glare of the lanterns so severely interfere with and shut off the light of the sun that everybody has to work mainly by lantern light."
Tell it, Mr. Welch. Tell it!
The multi-trillion-dollar "lantern project" which the alleged "Joe Biden" is proposing (and which will probably not pass due to the Demonrats' mini-majorities in both Houses of Congress) has, predictably, got the Marxist scum at Sulzberger's Slimes all excited. From the sympathetic article, penned by an ignoramus named Patricia Cohen (cough cough) :
"Biden's suite of economic proposals is aiming to both reinforce and rebuild an American middle class that feels it has been standing on shifting ground. And it comes with an explicit message that the private sector alone cannot deliver on that dream and that the government has a central part to play. ...... The president’s economic team took inspiration from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal."
Shut up, Cohen. Shut up!

1. Robert Welch was a brilliant man and anti-Globalist patriot -- but his JBS would not tolerate any (cough-coughing) about the usual suspects or any defense of Hitler. // 2. Frederic Bastiat's pithy quotes on government and economics also make for a good crash course. // 3. Patricia Cohen of the Slimes probably fingers herself to images of donkey-faced Eleanor Rosenfeld.
The economic ignorance and just plain lack of common sense on display in the lengthy article is absolutely appalling. A few more rebutted snippets:
Cohen: Mr. Biden’s spending plans — a $2.3 trillion infrastructure package called the American Jobs Plan, and a $1.8 trillion American Families Plan that concentrates on social spending --
Rebuttal: Patty, you Bolshevik bitch. That's $4.1 TRILLION in additional taxes and debt / money printing! Do you have any idea what kind of inflation that level of currency debasement would trigger -- on top of what is already going on in the grocery stores as we speak?
Cohen: -- aim to take account of just how much the work force and the economy have transformed over the past half-century and where they may be headed in the next.
Rebuttal: The economy has "transformed" precisely because of such reckless spending and its associated taxation and inflation. More lanterns, please!
Cohen: The reconstructed middle class would be built on a sturdier and much broader plank of government support ...
Rebuttal: There it is! "Government support" of a "reconstructed middle class." Translation: The American middle-class is to be taken down a few notches and then morphed into the already state-dependent lower class -- one big miserable family with "equality" (and lots of smoky lanterns) for all.
Cohen: .... rather than the vagaries of the market.
Rebuttal: What commies and libtards dismiss and denigrate as "the vagaries of the market" are actually necessary automatic and natural corrective forces derived from the incalculable and unpredictable "invisible hand" accumulation of buyer / seller decisions and behaviors. Control freak egghead economists -- most of whom have never so much as run a childhood lemonade stand -- hate such "vagaries" because they always mess-up their idiotic equations and super-duper computer models.
Continued:
Cohen: But what cuts across an avalanche of studies, surveys and statistics over the last half century is that life in the middle class, once considered a guarantee of security and comfort, now often comes with a nagging sense of vulnerability.
Rebuttal: Again, the middle class has become "vulnerable" because of government spending, taxation, inflation and excessive regulation. Typically, as much as 40-50% of a middle class household's gross income goes to pay for various forms of direct or indirect Federal, State & local taxes. More lanterns, please!
Cohen: The trend can be found in rich countries all over the world.
Rebuttal: That because Marxists and libtards can be found in rich countries all over the world. Duh.
Cohen (quoting Professorette Betsey Stevenson): “We’ve now had 50 years of the revolution of women entering the labor force,” ...
Rebuttal: Many married women did not "enter the labor force." They were pushed into it when scum pig commie feminists like you over-taxed their husbands and debased their salaries through inflation.
Cohen: ... and the most basic necessities ("free" childcare) that make it possible for parents to fully participate in the work force are still missing, said Betsey Stevenson, a professor at the University of Michigan.
Rebuttal: More lanterns, please -- for "the children ™."
Cohen: She paused a few moments to take it in: “It’s absolutely stunning.”
Rebuttal: No, Betsey. What is "absolutely stunning" is that arrogant quackademics like you still haven't realized that your unneeded lanterns are the problem, have ever been the problem, and will always be the problem!
Cohen: But public polling shows widening support for the government to take a larger role.
Rebuttal: So, a significant percentage of the masked-up, vaccine-queuing normies want more lanterns, eh? That would not surprise me.
1. This is what a healthy society and economy looks like! // 2. After forcing mothers out of their home-based "oppression" and into "the workforce," feminist filth like "Professor" Betsey Stevenson of Michigan finds it "absolutely stunning" that the Federal government hasn't provided enough lanterns for commie daycare. // 3. And now, many cash-strapped workers -- out of ignorance and out of necessity -- want still more lanterns.
Boobus Americanus 1: I read in the New York Times today that Biden's ambitious spending proposals are targeted at helping the middle class.
Boobus Americanus 2: The middle class has got it tough these days. We could use all the help we can get.
